About Dr. John McCarthy
Dr. McCarthy has been a physician for 25+ years performing full-spectrum family medicine while working in rural, multi-specialty, and large and small primary care practices. In addition to his duties at the NATIVE Project clinic, he works with medical students at the UW School of Medicine in Eastern Washington. He is the Okanogan County’s public health officer. Dr. McCarthy is a past president of the WA Academy of Family Physicians and, in 2014, was named Spokane County Medical Society’s Physician Citizen of the Year. In 2012, Dr. McCarthy was named Washington’s Family Physician of the Year. Dr. McCarthy is committed to health, fitness, and family, as demonstrated when he and his wife and kids took a coast-to-coast bike trip across the United States.
